View Full Version : Interrupt tactics

I have a few CA's that interrupt and I'm trying to use them more efficiently. I have a few questions though:
1. Do some mobs have combat arts as well? Can those be interrupted?
2. What should I look for to cue an interrupt CA from me? Is it too late by the time you see some kind of spell animation?
3. I have some CA's that knock down but don't specifically say "interrupts target". Does that mean a knock down doesn't interrupt?
As an aside: I started playing about 2 months ago on the advice of a friend. Though I've been a gamer all my life, this is my first and only MMO. I must say that this game is an absolute blast! Though I'm not able to play as much as I'd like (goal is 10-12 hours a week, would like to play 100+!) I hope to be a valueable addition to the guild.

Hello Tahda,
Haven't had a chance to meet or talk much to you yet so let me say welcome to RA and the wide world of MMo's...you have now been officially sucked in like the rest of us.
As a Ranger, I am probably not the one to answer your question. We have several zerker's in the guild and if you don't get a reply here, just ask them in game when you see them on.
The main reason I replied was to let you know that EQ2 has on-line class forums available, that is assuming you haven't already checked them out :).
I use them extensively in trying to get the best performance out of my toons.
For zerkers, the link is:

Just under the Berzerker heading, you will see a link called "class discussion". This will back you up one page and give you links to all the different class forums. Lots of good info there.

Nice info on tactics i would suggest every one take a minute or two and read this link in the forums. It also explained to me how tanks lose agro at time to overnuking dps and how the good tanks have problems keeping agro on some of the most fabled dpsers Nice job Tahda on the info you gathered

Thanks all for your info. I had taken a look at the Zerker forum previously, but didn't have much luck looking for specific info on interrupts. However, I just took a casual glance and wasn't very thorogh. I'll do more reading there.
Thanks for the help! RA seems like a really great community and I'm happy to be on board.

I find the general tactic of holding agro is concentrate on main target first with single quick taunts, 1 or 2. Then if in group apply a group taunt and then again a single taunt to main target. They are social so if main target is angry with you then others are. Follow again with group taunt and single hits or taunts to main target.
Sort of this s/taunt, s/hit, s/taunt, g/taunt, s/taunt, g/hit, s/hit, s/hit, g/taunt ....
occasionally keeping attension of others in group.
Taunting can be eased off when single targets or not names, but main thing is; of course doest apply to you, a guardians main job is to attract agro so prob 70% or spells are taunt related not damage intended.

I find on encounter mobs, that i will throw group taunt first then single taunts on main target and get him real good on me, then aoe/AE to keep the others from wandering
also, make sure peoples are attacking wat u r, in raid situations this cant happen sometimes but in grps it works much better. As a Zerker, your attacks to quite a bit o damage and that helps incredibly, dont underestimate damage to gain aggro
