Thought I'd follow up a bit on my setup for rangers (aka Mandallorean) from 70-80. This is a work in progress and will add more later.
First, my AA setup (not complete yet as I am currently at 127/140 AA points).
Predator Tree
I did a lot of research on forums and this seemed to make the most sense for my style of play:
Strength 6-4-5-8-1 (8 point in Precision of Blades as this increases your melee crit chance by 13.9%)
AGI 6-4-4-8-1 (8 points in Ranged Expertise which increases your ranged crit chance by 22%)
Int 4-4-4-8 (8 points in Toxic Expertise which increases spell crit by 52% - this affects your poisons).
Ranger Tree
Here I concentrated on dumping points into "Poisoning" and "Multi-shot" slots to get Conservation (Poisoning) which increases duration, trigger count and effectiveness of poisons...and Double Arrow (Multi-shot) which increases your ranged Double attack by 8%.
Gear
At 72, I went with the full mastercrafted Incarnadine set. Unless you are fabled out from T7 raid zones, this gear will do nicely for a few levels...and you won't be wearing it all that long as you will begin to come across very nice legendary items that you will begin to swap in at 75 and up.
A few items to look for that will work nicely on a ranger:
Talisman of Thuuga (lvl 75) from “An Ugly Bounty” (http://eq2.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?eq2quest=4340)
Reet Eye Ring (lvl 75) from “Taking it to the Source”
Mantle of the Lost Valley (lvl 75) from “Killing in the Name”
Bronze and Pearl Inlaid Vambraces (lvl 71) – believe this was a collection quest.

Baldric of the Di’Zok Warlord (lvl 80) Chokidai Collars Collection quest

Poisons:
I currently keep 3 going at any one time:
My preferences are : Caustic Poison, Enfeebling Poison and Fettering Poison. Can have all 3 of these up at the same time. Expert level is nice but a bit expensive…Grandmaster lvl is a little bit more economical but a bit less potent…your choice
Spells:
I chose Focus Aim as my lvl 64 Master II (still using it) and Vulnerable Arrow as my lvl 72 Master II.
Generally, if soloing, you can use the same tactics you always use. Its always nice to hit the mob with a slow arrow to give yourself a few more shots before the mob gets there. You also want to perfect your kiting circles with auto-attack on.
I always hit my Focus Aim (1 min recast) Killing Instinct (5 min recast) and Honed Reflexes (5 min recast) when they are up. When pulling a mob I start with Snaring Shot (slows target), Vulnerability (lowers defense), Rope (lowers heat resistance) and Searing Shot (heat damage). I also try to always make sure a Heroic Opportunity (HO) is running.
